Our website contributor guidelines
All members are encouraged to contribute to Sydney City Skywatchers website and journal. Here are some quick guidelines to get you started:

-
Originality: Ensure your work is original. If you use material from a source, e.g. the definition of a nebula, quote the source. But most of the text should be composed by yourself.
-
Topics: Feel free to write about any astronomical-related subject. This may include your own observations and images, book reviews, celestial events, astrophysics, observational techniques, reviews of telescopes or software, profiles of notable astronomers, and exploration of current research.
-
Writing and Editing: If you do not consider yourself a good writer, write as clearly as you can, read through and edit it a couple of times before sending. We have people within Skywatchers who can tighten up the text and edit it where necessary.
-
Length: No minimum length but aim for 500 words, and no more than 800.
-
Images: Include high-quality images, diagrams, or illustrations. Ensure you have permission to use any visuals and provide proper credit. If they are not your own, quote your source.
-
Write informative captions for all images to enhance understanding
-
Submit the images separate from the text. At the end of the text, make a list of image captions.
-
Submitting: Submit your articles in a standard format (e.g., Word document or Google Doc) with clear headings and no special formatting (like bold or italics) except for titles.
