Abstract: The biggest-ever space telescope, James Webb, is showing the clearest-ever infrared images and revealing the birthplaces of planets and stars. Its highest resolution camera uses Australian hardware - I'll lead you through how it was developed, how we used cutting-edge computer science to solve its problems in flight, and show off some of its beautiful images of planets, moons, dying stars, and black holes.
Bio: Benjamin Pope is an Associate Professor at Macquarie University. He researches extrasolar planets - planets around other stars - and develops and applies new data science approaches for detecting and characterizing them.
